Physical Education

Physical Education and Sport is an important part of the curriculum at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish School. Each week, students participate in a Physical Education lesson that further develops their knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to their health, wellbeing, safety and participation in physical activity. A lifelong love of sport and being physically active is continually encouraged and our students become aware of how this plays an important role in leading a healthy lifestyle.

Developing correct Fundamental Motor Skills plays a major part of our program in the early years of Primary School as students learn, develop and master these skills in a variety of sporting situations. Fairplay, being safe and understanding the importance of being a team player are also large components of Physical Education that you will see at OLR.

As students progress through Year levels, they are presented with further opportunities to develop their love of sport and practise their skills as they learn and play familiar and new games. Our close association with the COBAW District Sports Association allows our students to participate against other local schools in a competitive and safe environment. Success at this level can culminate in students being selected for Divisional, Regional and State competitions. Sports that are available for our students to participate in include Football, Netball, Soccer, Cricket, Tee Ball, Softball, Volleyball, Swimming, Tennis and Athletics and Cross Country.

Each year we hold our School Athletics Carnival for students in Years 3 to 6. This provides them with a wonderful opportunity to practise the skills they develop in Physical Education lessons, to support and encourage each other and to be the best that they can be.
