Dear Parents/Carers,
We are so excited to be evolving our Parent/Teacher interviews into Student-Led Learning Conversations! We truly believe that involving our students in their own learning journey is a key part of their growth, and we can’t wait to hear their voices take center stage.
What is a Student-Led Learning Conversation? Instead of a traditional Parent /Teacher interview, this is a "three-way" chat between the student, parent, and teacher. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your child to lead the discussion, sharing their strengths, successes, and the goals they’ve set for Term 2.
These Student Led Learning Conversations will be held on
Tuesday March 31 from 10.00am through to 7pm.
Interview duration: 15 minutes
Tuesday March 31 will be a student free day to allow teachers to be available for these Interviews
Since this is a dedicated day for our Student-Led Learning Conversations, students only attend school for their specific appointment time with their parents.
How to Book: We will send out a booking link next week (using a process very similar to our Family Chats at the start of the year). We hope to see every student there to share their achievements with you!
During these sessions, students will join their parents and teachers to lead a discussion about their strengths, successes in learning and self-management, and some goals they wish to tackle in the coming terms. We believe that involving students in capturing their own learning journey is key to their growth and to taking ownership of their progress.
Our students will be preparing for these three way learning conversations with their classroom teachers in the next few weeks, selecting pieces of work they believe reflect their learning and growth, completing a reflection sheet on their learning so far this year, and setting some goals they wish to tackle in the coming terms.
If you have any questions please come and chat to myself or your child’s classroom teacher.
Kind regards
Anne Ferrie and OLR staff
